As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or Latex document file format.
Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
Author Guidelines
These author guidelines follow the standard of IEEE journals; and most of the texts are taken from IEEE sources. Since all accepted papers will be published in The Journal of Science and Technology (JoST) ISSN: 2362-1443, instructions about paper contents, length, format etc. have been customized to fit with the journal standard. Moreover, some guidelines have been constructed for the sake of imparting comfort to researchers from non-engineering fields like management, mathematics and normal science.
Updated on: June 2, 2024
General guidelines:-
The paper must fall within the themes and track areas of JoST
The paper must be written in English and should be correct grammatically as well as free from typographical errors. Any papers having poor grammar will be desk-rejected
The paper should be as original as possible from the research perspective. However, original reviews and surveys are also acceptable.
Concepts, models, results etc. included in the paper must not have been submitted or published elsewhere. However, expanded versions may be accepted.
Experiments, analyses and statistics should be performed with a standard method and must accordingly be described well.
Conclusions must be supported by the experimental results and should be clearly stated.
Appropriate references with proper citations are needed – IEEE referencing style is recommended for IT and engineering papers whereas APA is recommended for other disciplines. Paper templates for Word and Latex can be downloaded from the conference website by following the links given in the section below.
The length of the paper is 12-15 pages, recommended for technical papers whereas 08-15 pages for non-technical papers.
All the papers submitted to JoST will be scanned for plagiarism, and any paper submissions that plagiarize another author’s work will be rejected. The tolerance plagiarism level is 20% in the worst case (viz. expanded works of an existing work, or review papers).
If you have used any contents (text, figures, images, code etc.) generated by artificial intelligence, they shall be disclosed in the acknowledgments section.
Checklist before Submission
Manuscript should be prepared in a double column, single-spaced format using the JOST template (the IEEE standard). A source file (either Word or LaTex) and a PDF file are both required to submit. File sizes should not exceed 50MB. The JoST templates for Word and Latex can be downloaded from link1 and link2 respectively. Similarly, Word templates for APA 7 format can be downloaded using the link
Name and details of the authors should carefully be checked before submission. The order of the authorship and the corresponding author should be indicated.
Short biographies of all authors should be included directly within the paper below the references section.
The Acceptance Procedure
The JoST editorial committee sends each submitted paper for peer review before accepting it finally. The various stages of the process are given below: -
Stage 1: Plagiarism checking
Your paper will be accepted or rejected on the basis of the threshold of tolerance level. Optionally, you may be asked to reduce the level of plagiarism and to resubmit.
Stage 2 : Examination of linguistic elements
You will be prescribed to make linguistic corrections if the editorial committee finds problems in flow of expression, grammatical mistakes, typographical errors etc. Depending upon the level of linguistic correctness, the paper will be subjected to Major or Minor review.
Stage 3 : Major or Minor Review
The editorial committee sends your paper under either Major review or Minor review depending upon the quality and standard of the JoST. TPC can send a paper to review the process more than once if necessary.
Stage 4 : Accept or Reject
Finally, your paper will be accepted or rejected.
